I-190 passes through town making it easy to get to Routes 9,20, I-90 and I-495 and Boston is just 40 miles away as well.

What enticed early settlers to call West Boylston home in the early 1700's? One word, one vast meaning, water. The sweet valley encumbered with fertile soil was created by the Quinapoxet and Stillwater Rivers meeting together to form the southern end of the Nashua River. Everything prospered, including the Warfield Sawmill, L.M. Harris Cotton Mill and the Cowee Grist Mill. During the late 1800's the state began taking over much of the land. The purpose behind this was to build the Wachusett Reservoir as a part of a state wide campaign to upgrade the network of water supplies. The need to quench the growing thirst of the up and coming Boston Metropolitan Area was the main reason the reservoir was built. Nothing good can come without a price. In order for there to be room for this reservoir, people's home, farms and mills were torn down. Four churches, eight schools, and an abundance of fruit trees were also destroyed. Then end result had 1,700 residents displaced, not to mention they had to up root an entire cemetery and re-bury the caskets. That reservoir still stands today as one the town's most haunting memories and landmarks. Believe it or not, but West Boylston was once a part of Boylston. A petition was signed and approved in 1792 to allow West Boylston to become its own parish. West Boylston became incorporated in1808.

The residents of West Boylston are always striving to maximize their full potential. Ezra Beaman became one of the earliest leaders for West Boylston. He consecutively served as the West Boylston's treasurer, selectman and he was the first in the town to become a representative to the state legislature. Another distinguished member of the West Boylston landscape is Robert B. Thomas. He created the renowned Farmers Almanac.
